DI TAXA APPARSI IN OPERE DI
DESFONTAINES E GUSSONE

Riassunto - L'Autore prende in considerazione due contributi di René Louiche Desfontaines ed uno di Giovanni Gussone. Il primo lavoro del botanico francese, Décade de plantes nouvelles dont les grains ont été apportées des c6tes de Barbarie (1792), ove sono anticipate, rispetto alla notissima Flora Atlantica (1798-1799) dello stesso Autore, alcuni taxa, è stato fino ad oggi completamente ignorato; l'altro, il noto Tableau de /'éco/e de botanique du Muséum d'histoire nature/le (1804), riporta alcuni binomi prioritari che non sono stati recepiti dalla letteratura. Ne scaturisce una nuova combinazione: Euphorbia virgata Desf. ssp. regis-jubae (Webb et Berth.) Soldano. L'opera di Gussone, Florae Siculae Prodromus, è esaminata dal punto di vista di una più corretta datazione, che per più entità comprese nel secondo volume veniva indicata con notevole incertezza (1828-1832). La consultazione della corrispondenza del botanico campano con Giorgio Jan e Giovan Battista Balbis ha consentito di circoscrivere decisamente meglio l'epoca di pubblicazione dei diversi blocchi che hanno composto il secondo volume del Prodromus.
Summary - On the correct dates and the priority of taxa published by Desjontaines and Gussone. The Author emphasizes that in a little work published in 1792 René Louiche Desfontaines provided the description of nine species (three of which in current use) that later appeared in his famous Flora Atlantica (1798-1799). The same botanist made in the well known Tableau de /'éco/e de botanique du Muséum d'histoire nature/le (1804) some new combinations that today are ascribed to later Authors. A new name there established, Euphorbia virgata, produces the new combination E. virgata ssp. regis-jubae (Webb et Berth.) Soldano. The use of the correspondence of Giovanni Gussone with other botanists has lead to obtain the exact (or nearly so) date of publication of the new species, today accepted, that he described in Florae Siculae Prodromus, published discontinuosly between 1827 and 1832. This has also shown that Petagnia sanicu/aefolia and Lupinus micranthus are names that cannot be retained and are to be replaced with Petagnaea gussonii (Sprengel) Rauschert, whose basionym - Sison gussonii - is typified, and Lupinus gussoneanus J. Agardh. The correct publication date of the genus Petagnaea Caruel is indicated.
